A woman told police she was approached from behind as she boarded a bus by a male approximately, 16, wearing a dreadlock wig with gold tips. As she was stepping onto the bus, the young man removed her iPhone and wallet from her person, as three other young males stood around laughing. The group fled eastbound on Division Street. Estimated loss was $500.
Oak Park police said a man, 20-35 years old, placed a drink on the counter of Austin/Lake Food Mart around 2:30 p.m., April 13. Instead of pulling out a wallet, he removed a chrome-plated revolver from his waist and pointed it at the store clerk while demanding "all the money." The clerk handed him $200 and he fled northbound on Austin on foot, then westbound into the North Boulevard alley. Police are still investigating.
A woman who bought credit cards encoded with stolen account information was arrested after using a fraudulent debit card in River Forest to withdraw money from a Bank of America ATM, River Forest Police said.
Two tenants of a 22-unit building involved in separate shooting incidents on March 27 and April 2 have both moved out of their units at 464 N. Austin Blvd., the building's property manager Dan Vollman said on Monday.
Oak Park police said two men, brothers ages 36 and 37, were shot last night in the parking lot behind an apartment building in the 400 block of North Austin Boulevard – the same building where a man was shot through his apartment door around midnight March 27.
An unlocked garage in the 700 block of South Cuyler Avenue was burglarized via the unlocked side service door, March 21-24. Two bicycles were missing. Police found one of the bikes when they stopped a 50-year-old Melrose Park man riding on the sidewalk in the 900 block of Lyman Avenue the next day. The bike was traced back to the burglarized garage. The cyclist was charged with possession of stolen property.
