Ralph F. Clay, 93, of Carol Stream, formerly of Berwyn and Harvey, died on April 3, 2011 at Windsor Park Manor in Carol Stream. Born in Painton, Mo. on March 12, 1918 to Frederick and Ethel Clay, he was raised in West Frankfort, Ill. Mr. Clay served with the U.S. Army in World War II as a military policeman and received a Good Conduct Medal and also an American Defense Medal.

Until his retirement in 1981, he was a supervisor with the Sherwin Williams Paint Company. An avid gardener, he was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Oak Park.

Ralph Clay is survived by his sisters, Eithel Mae Odam and Daisy M. Franks; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of almost 53 years, Margaret (nee Hites), in 2001 and his brothers, Frank and Tommy.

Visitation and funeral service were held April 8, 2011 at First Baptist Church, followed by interment at Oakridge Cemetery in Hillside. Arrangements were handled by Drechsler, Brown & Williams Funeral Home.
